We are Allchins of the Great Southern Land, Australia. The farming
gene remains strong, with links to the land via Ebenezer Allchin.
The story goes he was the slightly straight son of the wayward
Allchin. The youngest of five Allchin sons whose parents owned
the brewery in Manchester. My great grandfather enjoyed the produce
of the brewery a little beyond a proprietary interest, and was
sent out to the colonies to get it together. He bought land in
Gippsland, South East Victoria, and ran mainly dairy cattle on
Avondale.
